How the money works
Most of the risk in planning a retreat comes before anyone signs up. These two steps are kept separate so you can test interest before any money changes hands.
Tell us the format and the date you have in mind. We hold it on our calendar for fourteen days. No payment, no card, no obligation. If it doesn’t come together, tell us and we release the date.
When you confirm, a payment is due under written terms: $99 for a session or a full day, $500 for a weekend. It applies to your balance rather than sitting on top of it. The balance is due 60 days before a weekend, or 14 days before a session or full day. If you later can’t move forward under the terms of your booking, you choose whether that payment is returned to you or applied to another open date.
The written booking terms set out the deadlines and conditions that apply, including what happens if Yurt Altaia has to cancel. Read the booking terms.
About the place
Yurt Altaia sits on one hundred acres in Hocking Hills that the family owns. The room itself is an authentic Mongolian ger, raised on the ridge and set up for group work rather than overnight stays.
V, who runs it, was born in Turkey and spent forty years in nursing, the last nine as a nurse practitioner. She hosts the visits, sets the room, and is the person you will be emailing and meeting.

Come stand in it
Bring your mat or your bowls. Teach a short flow in the room, listen to how it carries, and ask V whatever you need to ask. About an hour on site, at no cost and with nothing owed.
Wednesdays 9 to 11 AM and Saturdays 11 AM to 3 PM. If neither works, email [email protected] or text 614-496-2106 and we’ll find another time.
Questions
$450 for a three-hour session, $795 for a full day, and $1,995 for a weekend at the founding rate for the first twelve weekends, $3,495 after that. Those are venue fees. You set your own ticket prices and keep what your guests pay you.
The 14-day hold takes no payment at all, so releasing a held date costs nothing. Once you confirm a booking, the payment is $99 for a session or full day and $500 for a weekend. The balance is due 60 days before a weekend, or 14 days before a session or full day. If you can’t move forward under the terms of your booking, you choose whether that payment comes back to you or goes toward another open date. The written terms set out the deadlines and conditions, and they will be linked on this page before booking opens.
The room is set as a circle of up to twenty on mats. It is built for mat work, so there are no reformers.
On full days and weekends, yes. The kitchen annex has a fridge, a range and prep space, and drop-off is handled. A three-hour session includes the coffee and water station rather than the kitchen; if you need kitchen access for a session, ask and we’ll talk about it.
The yurt is built for year-round use and the fire pit on the deck is laid and lit for your group. A wood stove is being installed at the back of the yurt for cold season. Ask V where that stands before you confirm a winter date, and she’ll tell you honestly what the room is likely to feel like.
Summit Haven is a short walk away and is independently owned and operated. Your guests book directly with Summit Haven, and a 10% discount is available to them, subject to Summit Haven’s own availability and terms. Other Hocking Hills cabins are a short drive away.
Yurt Altaia does not own, manage or reserve those cabins, and lodging is not included in the venue fee.
The cold season, November through March, tends to fill first. Spring 2027 dates are open now. Any open date can be held free for fourteen days while you decide.

Tell us what you want to run and roughly when. We’ll confirm the hold and answer whatever comes up. No payment is taken to hold a date.
